As a website developer and blogger, I have depended on Google Analytics to monitor traffic to my sites and have been using it on a daily basis for several years now.
Google has been rolling out a new version of Analytics for the last few months, but fortunately for me, there has so far been a link to the old version.
Why do I like the old version? – quite simply, it has an overview page where you can see all your sites at a glance and see the number of visits, average time spent on site, bounce rate, completed goals and % change.
Imagine my shock and horror one morning when I logged into my analytics account and the link to the old version wasn’t there.
After a few hours trawling the internet for advice on how to use the new interface, it became clear that it is currently not possible to create an overview page using the new version.
However, whilst learning how to use the new interface, I noticed a link in the footer to the old version – yea hah!
So for all you people, who prefer the old version of Google Analytics and think that it has disappeared, the link is now in the footer – see below.
In the meantime, I am going to try and learn how to use the new version, just in case the old version disappears into thin air and will post a layman’s tutorial on the site in due course.
Update 10th May 2012
Oh dear, it seems like the overview page has disappeared from the old Google version. I’m not sure why something that worked so well should be changed for change sake. Will be keeping a look out for something to replace the overview page unless it re-appears in the near future.
