The hotel is located on the Ipswich Road and is easily assessable from the A47.
The health club is part of the Holiday Inn.
The gym is quite well equipped with an area for aerobic exercise machines and an area for body building, which includes free weights.
The gym is nicely laid out and there are flat screen TVs poisoned so that they are visible from most of the aerobic equipment. There are about 4 types of each aerobic machine and most of the equipment is modern and made by Life Fitness, which is a well respected brand in the gym world.
When we visited there were about half a dozen people using the gym, and we were assured that it rarely gets busier than this. The gym is clean and has plenty of equipment to get a good work out.
There is a good sized pool, which is accessible from the male and female changing rooms. The pool is rectangular and is good for swimming lengths. There were only three other people in the pool when we visited it. The pool also has pleasant views over the grounds and is well lit – there is plenty of glass to allow light in.
There is also a steam room and a sauna, which were clean and well maintained.
Overall I would say that this is a very good gym. The equipment is modern and clean and there is plenty of it. If the gym got busy then there could be some issues getting access to equipment, but this certainly wasn’t the case during our visit and it would take a lot more visitors to the gym for any problems to arise.
The shower areas were clean, but as with previous reviews, some of the shower taps and fittings could do with being changed for more modern fixtures.
